Frank Zappa
Who wants to follow in the footsteps left by Frank Zappa on the way rock should prepare for a path from the outlines both minimum and triumphant, land and interstellar, creative and controversial. The character, you know, has as a reference point only if the same: you can not call certain cocky or arrogant (who has had the good fortune to know him is ready to swear on his affability total), but it is certain that this singer-guitarist composer-at least a little weird can be tried without fear. From the first steps in freedom of Freak Out and Absolutely Free to tell its salutary madness of one of the most spiteful and atypical genes around the rock, the rest of his prolific discography Zappa not spare barbs at authorities, bigotry and sexual phobia of bourgeois society, particularly American.
Zappa was constantly poised between rock, jazz, theater of the absurd, the most advanced music research: under a zest apparent anarchy, there are obvious musical influences of traditional and contemporary classical music. He was a self-taught musician who suffers from an obsessive creativity and a fun and frenzy limelight, but well-trained and very serious. In reality Zappa invented a bit 'of everything from new wave (We're Only In It) rock operetta (Absolutely Free), the progressive-rock (Uncle Meat) to the concept (Freak Out) to punk-rock (Absolutely Free). Many of his insights (Lumpy Gravy, Weasels) do not have a name yet, 'cause is not yet born rock musician that knows how to continue. Thanks Uncle Frank for having given us all!
